On 22 November in Rimini, the magic of the festive season is lit up with 100 kilometres of coordinated Christmas illumination that spreads and embraces the entire city, from the historic centre to the Lungomari.
As per tradition, the switching on of the lights will be accompanied by an evocative countdown in Piazza Cavour that will create the anticipation in full Christmas spirit and officially kick off the programme of events 'Rimini, the world's longest New Year's Eve' that will last until Epiphany.
Luminous Christmas compositions and beautiful Christmas trees in different architectural forms will characterise the main squares in the historic centre, while the 5 kilometres of the Rimini North sea park will be festively lit up with lighting effects.
In the harbour area, the ice rink and the Christmas village between Piazzale Boscovich and the beach will be festively dressed in anticipation of the official start of Christmas village activities. The monumental Sand Crib, created by internationally renowned master sculptors, will also be on display here.
Rimini's beach is also coloured with the magic of Christmas with "Un Mare d'Inverno" (A Winter Sea), the initiative that transforms the coastline into a poetic landscape, where art, nature and light come together to tell of the beauty of the sea even in the quietest season. From 15 November, the raised dune on the beach in Rimini between bathing station 1 and bathing station 63 will come alive with 30 benches and art installations, which will become the heart of a diffuse exhibition itinerary.
